SBF Volunteers Lead Cleanliness Drives in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab
On 2nd October 2025, the Society for Bright Future (SBF) observed Gandhi Jayanti by carrying forward Mahatma Gandhi’s timeless message of cleanliness, civic responsibility, and sustainable living. Across India, this day serves as a reminder of Gandhiji’s dream of a clean and self-reliant nation — and this year, SBF volunteers stepped forward once again to turn that vision into action.
The cleanliness drives were held simultaneously in two states: Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. With brooms, buckets, and a strong sense of duty, SBF volunteers gathered early in the morning to begin their work under the campaign theme “Har Kadam Swachhta Ki Ore.”
Cleanliness Drive in Karhal, Mainpuri (Uttar Pradesh)
In the town of Karhal, District Mainpuri, SBF volunteers devoted the day to Shramdaan (voluntary physical work) at Mohalla Kaji Cemetery. The team cleaned the surroundings, removed waste materials, and restored the site’s dignity as a place of peace and remembrance. This initiative not only beautified the area but also encouraged local residents to maintain cleanliness in public spaces.
The volunteers emphasized that cleanliness is not limited to an annual observance but must become part of our everyday lives. Many community members, inspired by the team’s effort, joined the drive spontaneously, turning it into a shared act of service and solidarity.
Green Initiative in Malerkotla, Punjab
Meanwhile, in Malerkotla, Punjab, another SBF volunteer group carried out a similar drive at Ali Masjid, Nabha Road. The team cleaned the mosque’s premises and surrounding area, followed by watering and caring for existing plants in the compound. This thoughtful action merged the ideals of Swachhta (cleanliness) and Harit Bharat (green India), reinforcing the environmental aspect of community responsibility.
Participants shared that serving the environment is an act of worship in itself. Through small yet meaningful steps — like removing litter, caring for plants, and spreading awareness — the volunteers demonstrated how faith, responsibility, and sustainability can go hand in hand.
The Spirit of Gandhi Lives On
Both events captured the essence of Mahatma Gandhi’s words: “Sanitation is more important than independence.” By dedicating their time and energy to cleaning public spaces, SBF volunteers exemplified that social change begins at the grassroots level.
The drives also served as an opportunity to engage youth and community members in conversations about cleanliness, hygiene, and civic participation. Volunteers pledged to continue similar initiatives throughout the year, not just on commemorative days, but as a continuous effort to build cleaner, greener, and more resilient communities.
A Collective Step Forward
The Society for Bright Future extends heartfelt appreciation to all the dedicated volunteers who made Gandhi Jayanti 2025 meaningful through their service. Their collective effort reflects SBF’s broader mission — to promote social responsibility, environmental awareness, and disaster resilience across India.
Each broom lifted and every plant watered was a step toward a brighter, cleaner tomorrow. With unity, compassion, and consistent effort, we can indeed turn the dream of Swachh Bharat into a lasting reality.
