Project RAHAT

Why Project Rahat?

Cold and Heat waves in Northern India take hundreds of lives each year. As per a study by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), since 1980, more people have beens killed by cold waves as compared to heat waves. The study also found a 506% increase in the number of cold waves the country has witnessed in the last one decade. Every year North India comes under the grip of severe cold waves worsening the condition for homeless people.

As part of the Project Rahat, SBF engages with these people in several states of North India during the winter. The beneficiaries are provided with 1.8 KG mink blankets to help them survive the battle against harsh weather. The project helps to minimize cold wave-induced fatalities among homeless people and to spread warmth and empathy towards fellow human beings.
