Blood Donation Camps

Why Blood Donation Camps?

A report suggests that every day 12,000 people in India die due to the lack of donated blood. While the country collects 11 million units of blood, it needs 15 million units, creating a deficit of 4 million units. As per WHO, at least 1% of the population must donate blood to meet a country’s basic blood requirement; however, in India, only 0.84% of the population donates blood voluntarily.

In order to fill this gap and to develop an efficient blood donation ecosystem, SBF organizes blood donation camps in collaboration with several communities, local blood banks and its volunteers to ensure that blood could be made available to those who need it in an emergency situation. It also organizes awareness programs to encourage people to voluntarily donate blood, by busting myths and misinformation around blood donation.
