Uttrakhand State’s Joshimath town is sinking. The disastrous landsides have developed cracks in scores of houses. Even the dangerous earthquake could not shake the foundation of these houses, but the landslide has changed the layout of the town. There are cracks in all the houses and scores of people are being relocated to safer places.
In this vulnerable situation, the Society for Bright Future (SBF) has taken a lead to help the people. A high level delegation of Society for Bright Future is visiting all the affected areas of Joshimath. The high level delegation is being led by Aamir Jamal, Volunteer Coordinator of the Society. Other members include Waseem Ahmed, Devashis and Gauri Bhatt. They are meeting with the affected people who have lost their homes in this disaster. The SBF team has also distributed blankets to homeless families.
SBF’s Notional Coordinator Irfan Ahmed has expressed deep concern over deteriorating situation in Joshimath. He said that the Society is keeping a close watch on the situation there and is ready to cooperate with the Disaster Management Department of Uttarakhand State Government in relief and rescue operations. He added that talks were held with the concerned minister and officers of the state. SBF along with the state government is making every possible effort to help the people. He told that a high level delegation of SBF is visiting Joshi Math since last 14th January and keeping a close watch on the situation. The government is also working for the relief and rehabilitation of the people and 800 homeless people affected by this calamity are temporarily shifted to hotels.
