DRMV

Why DRMVs?

Flood is a serious problem in various states across India including Assam which is dependent on the Brahmaputra valley bestowed with wide flood plains. It is also surrounded by Eastern Himalayas, Karbi Anglong, and Naga Hills Jaintia, Kasi and Garo Hills, which leads to several localized intense precipitation events causing distributed floods at various scales and intervals.

SBF believes that the impact of these floods and other similar disasters in other areas could be minimized by adopting a sustainable community-based disaster management approach. In view of this, it has launched a research and development project in Assam, to create resilience among the local community through flood-awareness and mitigation programs, and sustainable livelihood programs.
