Society For Bright Future on Ground in Punjab

Sep 15, 2025

Floods leave behind not just waterlogged fields and damaged homes, but also stories of resilience, struggle, and hope. In the wake of the recent floods in Punjab, the Society for Bright Future (SBF) has once again stepped forward with its mission to stand by communities in times of crisis.

On the ground, a dedicated team of SBF volunteers from Delhi visited Village Pumma Kathlour and Majiri, located in Tehsil Pathankot, District Pathankot, to conduct a detailed survey of flood-affected families.

Understanding Needs Through Ground Surveys

Surveys play a vital role in shaping effective disaster relief and rehabilitation strategies. While emergency aid such as food packets, water, and medical kits is crucial in the first few days, long-term recovery depends on a clear understanding of what families have lost and what they urgently require.

The SBF team interacted directly with the affected households, listening to their concerns and documenting their needs. Families shared how the floods had damaged their homes, disrupted livelihoods, and created health and sanitation challenges. This on-ground information will help in preparing a comprehensive relief and rehabilitation plan, ensuring that aid reaches those who need it the most.

Beyond Relief: A Step Toward Rehabilitation

SBF’s approach to disaster management has always been holistic—beginning with immediate relief, moving into rehabilitation, and ultimately working toward resilience building. The survey in Pathankot is part of this larger framework.

By identifying families most in need, mapping the scale of losses, and highlighting urgent requirements such as shelter, ration, medical assistance, and clean water, SBF is laying the foundation for impactful interventions that go beyond short-term aid.

The Spirit of Service

Behind every relief effort are the selfless volunteers who give their time and energy to support affected communities. The team from Delhi, leaving behind their own routines, travelled to Punjab to ensure that families in Pumma Kathlour and Majiri were not left unheard. Their commitment reflects the very spirit of SBF: “Serving Humanity in Times of Need.”

Looking Ahead

The insights gained from this survey will directly guide upcoming relief and rehabilitation programs in the Pathankot region. With the support of donors, partners, and well-wishers, SBF will continue to strengthen its efforts to rebuild lives and restore dignity for the affected families.

In moments of crisis, compassion and collective action become our greatest strength. Together, we can bring hope and resilience to Punjab’s flood-affected communities.

Society for Bright Future stands committed to building a brighter and safer tomorrow for all.
